What would it mean for you to live a present powerfully engaged life?
For me, it’s having robust energy, a clear mind, being present and connected to what I am doing.
Taking a shower, I feel the temperature of water on my skin, the sensation of washing my body and the smell of the soap. Drying myself off feeling the sensation of the slight roughness of the towel on my skin. Drinking coffee in the morning – not doing anything else, just savoring the warmth, flavor and smell of the coffee. Walking out my front door, seeing the Hibiscus bush and noticing the birds, looking up and towards the street seeing the patch of blue ocean – smelling the earth and slightly salty fragrance of ocean nearby. Noticing the sensations in my body as I engage with life around me. Connecting energetically, making eye contact and greeting the person at the cash register………….walking to my car aware of my feet touching the ground, lift, step, place – noticing my breathing…………..the surroundings…………the people…………
Experiment with being fully connected to your senses and your body as you go about your day and notice how you feel.
When you notice that you are lost in a stream of thinking – which you will – gently bring your attention back to what you notice right here right now.
Even the everyday mundane activities can be a celebration of sensations when you are fully present and engaged……………..washing dishes, grocery shopping, getting dressed, vacuuming, folding clothes…………………and when your mind wanders, which it will, gently guide your attention back to the breath……….sounds……….sensations………………..
Notice what is more fulfilling: being present and fully engaged with what you are doing or lost in thought while you are doing something.
